Located in Columbus, Ohio, the CS:GO system is actually spread across two servers. The first server is the web server that hosts this system. In addition to this page, it also is the front end for the HLSTATS interface. It also hosts any databases associated to the statistics, in-game preferences such as your !knife selection, and the Sourcebans environment. The second server is the actual game server and is online 24/7.
The server was originally built so I (johnny bravo) could have a place to play and practice within a competitive game style. From searching around the community servers, I was displeased with the limited options with a good connection. Some where 7v7, some where based in Europe, etc. From there, It was decided that building a server would be the best approach for my practice. By the time I stood the server up from the Linux CLI and logged in myself, there was already someone that had connected. For that reason, my player ID is actually "2" within the HLStats database. The number of people that play on the server has only grown from there.
With the server, there was people connecting from Silver 1 all the way to Global Elites. With this wide range of skill set, the Columbus Community server has such an emphasis on community. The server strives to create a positive, fun environment for all player levels. This fun environment and the great donations from everyone is also what enables the give aways. The community would not be a community without everyone who plays here. Thanks for playing!
This community server, associated databases, and websites runs all on private hardware. johnny bravo is the owner of the cluster of servers that host this server.
